Photography has always been more than capturing moments for me. It’s a way of understanding people, places and the stories that connect them.
I am Milou, photographer, content creator and creative director, I work on projects ranging from editorial and fashion to hospitality, events and documentary storytelling. Every project starts with the same question: what is the story we want people to remember?
My perspective is shaped by my own journey. I was born in Wuchuan, China, and adopted by a Dutch family at the age of one. Growing up between two cultures made me curious about identity, belonging and human connection. That curiosity naturally became the foundation of my work.
In 2024, I returned to China for the first time since my adoption. The experience transformed photography from something I loved into something deeply personal. It sparked an ongoing documentary project exploring identity, adoption and the search for home.
Today, I create visual stories that combine authenticity with strong creative direction. Whether it’s an immersive dining experience, a fashion editorial, a Pride celebration or a personal documentary, my goal is always the same: to create work that people genuinely connect with.
